ALASKA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS

Shelters offer temporary refuge in the life-saving programs of emergency shelters or transitional housing to those who need to escape from a dangerous situation in order to avoid the risk of being killed, raped or seriously injured, regardless of race, age, national origin, religion, disability, marital status, or veteran status. Every single person deserves to feel safe, valued and respected.

Domestic abuse can never be justified or excused, when both partners use violence to get what they want or to get their point across, it creates an environment that is extremely toxic and harmful to themselves and especially their children, who will grow up thinking a dysfunctional relationship is normal.
