Independent Contractor Agreement

Independent contractors are licensed individuals who are often hired by the individual or business to perform construction or remodeling services. These professionals work for themselves and are not an employee of the hiring party.

This document is an example of a simple contract intended for small home remodeling services, it should not be used for construction or substantial remodel services.

  • Name of the contractor
  • Name of the contracting individual or company
  • Service to be performed
  • Expected time of completion
  • Remuneration agreed upon
  • Extra expenses (if any)
  • Name(s) of any subcontractor (if any)

The independent contractor receives remuneration on a freelance basis. This type of professional does not have income taxes withheld.

In most cases independent contractors are their own bosses and full control over the hours they work and jobs they choose as opposed to regular employees.

SIMPLE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AGREEMENT


This Agreement is made and entered into as of the________ day of ________________, 20____ (Date), by and between ____________________ (the Contracting Party/Company or Individual) and _______________________ (the Contractor/Service Provider) with offices at _________________________________________________________________________.

Contractor will perform the following services for Contracting Party:

The rate of pay for the services requested will be: $_________

Costs shall no exceed: $_________

This agreement will begin on ___/___/___ and terminate on ___/___/___ unless services are concluded ahead of time or this agreement earlier terminated.

Contracting Party may terminate this agreement on ____ days notice to Independent Contractor for unsatisfactory performance.

Contractor will invoice the contracting party for the services rendered at the end of each week/month.

CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ALL TOOLS AND MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE TASKS AGREED TO.

THE CONTRACTING PARTY DOES NOT PROVIDE BENEFITS SUCH AS HEALTH INSURANCE, UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE OR WORKER’S COMPENSATION INSURANCE TO CONTRACTOR.

CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT OF ALL LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL INCOME TAXES.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned have executed this Agreement as of the day and year first written above.
